We are Hammered, we do stuff that's fun and doesn't involve drinking or drugs. We don' preach against their use, we just provide a weekly alternative to it, so if you like fun you should come to Hammered events even if you want to go party every other night of the week.
Hammered was founded in 2001 by Northeastern University student Ken Procaccianti. He envisioned a group addressing society's dependance on drugs and alcohol in a completely new way; by ignoring it. Rather than preaching about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, Hammered chooses to demonstrate that you can live your life, or even just one night of your week, without them.
Hammered does not have any official "members". We simply put on events that all are welcome to attend. If you want to take a more active role in Hammered, such as planning events or helping promote the group, you can come to our weekly meetings or become a board member. Our regular event scedule calls for a weekly Do-Stuff Thursday where we go out and do something fun on Thursday nights as an alternative to "Thirsty" Thursdays and we also on ocasion hold, special/special_event events. We are also active in the school's intermural sports.
With start-up financing from national non-profit organization Youth Venture and other private donations, Hammered has positioned itself to widely demonstrate that entertainment, fun, and having a good time need not focus on drugs and alcohol. Hammered has begun to show the world the social acceptability of the drug-free lifestyle by providing a balance to the images presently bombarding pop-culture.
